Compiz crash; launchpad update 404
I truly know nothing about Ubuntu, but I nonetheless have one and I've run into a serious issue. Compiz-core for my Ubuntu 12.04.01 Precise died with my most recent update and now Update Manager can't seem to function. I have an internet connection, I'm not an idiot contrary to what my update manager seems to think, but I get this message when trying to update:
W:Failed to fetch http://
, W:Failed to fetch http://
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
Using the indexes here I tried to manually install a new compiz repository, but that hasn't helped.
If anyone has any ideas or expertise, please advise; (I scarcely have a clue how to solve this issue, let alone where to begin).
Thanks!
