ClamAV for Ubuntu 14.04

I notice that clamav 0.1003 is the latest available for ubuntu 14.04.

clamav 0.100.3+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 (main)

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask but does this mean later versions are not suitable for 14.04 or that it is just the repos are no longer being updated for 14.04 ?

If you look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases you can see that standard support for Ubuntu 14.04 and 16.04 have already ended. These releases are in ESM status (Extended Security Maintenance)

If you are looking for updates for Ubuntu 14.04, then you have to subscribe your system to ESM.
As far as I can see, clamav is in the list of packages which are receiving further updates, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/ESM/14.04
