Java applet cannot run in Chrome

A java applet cannot run in Chrome 7.0.517.44 on any of my home laptops after upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10 but it runs on Firefox 3.6.12. At first, I thought this was a Ubuntu 10.10 issue but it also stop working for Ubuntu 10.04 after I sync the Chrome bookmarks across all my laptops.

The following is the list of installed java packages in my main laptop:

Am I missing any Sun-Java package? The issue frustrates me because it works on Firefox but not Chrome and was working fine in Chrome until the bookmark sync.

Appreciate any technical advise and solution from any Ubuntu experts. Thank you.

Yes. This is a Chrome issue, not Ubuntu. I just tested Chrome on Windows 7. The same Java applet is not playing after the latest Chrome update.

I have removed Google Chrome 7.0.517.44 and reinstall Chromium 7.0.517.41. This is the stable version for Ubuntu.
The Chromium version works and everything reverts back to normal. This is the same Chrome version before the latest upgrade.

I don't think I will upgrade to the latest Chrome version for a long time and will continue to stay with Chromium 7.0.517.41.

Both my Ubuntu laptop is working fine now with the Chromium version, though I still have issue with my Windows 7 laptop using Google Chrome. Have decided tonight to reinstall Firefox for Windows 7.
