Troubleshooting Installation

Asked by Amanda Bee

I'm running GNOME Shell 42.5 and chrome-gnome-shell is installed. I'm on Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS

However when I visit https://extensions.gnome.org/ in Chromium, I see the following error:

"Although GNOME Shell integration extension is running, native host connector is not detected. Refer documentation for instructions about installing connector."

In FIrefox I get a slightly different error: "Your native host connector do not support following APIs: v6. Probably you should upgrade native host connector or install plugins for missing APIs. Refer documentation for instructions."

The [documentation](https://wiki.gnome.org/action/show/Projects/GnomeShellIntegration/Installation) only says to ensure that I'm running at least version 42.0 of gnome-browser-connector if I'm getting the v6 error. There's no information about the Chromium error.

`chrome-gnome-shell` is already the newest version (10.1-5). `gnome-browser-connector` is not available for my LTS version of Ubuntu, but the next LTS version is almost a year out yet.

Does this mean I can't use Gnome extensions?

What additional steps should I take to troubleshoot?
