web cam not working in ubuntu 12.04

I have dual booting PC. My web cam is working in WinXP. But it is not detected in ubuntu 12.04.Please help me install it and use for skype and gtalk.

No details of the system make / model and no details about the webcam?
Why have you not added any details to the question?

Can you give the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a; lsusb

Is it a USB type Web Cam ?? Cam detected or not ??
Please check it with Cheese. ("sudo apt-get install cheese")
