Web-cam on the netbook isn't recognized any more. It was OK after ubuntu 10.10 installation

Ubuntu 10.10 was successfully installed, all HW was functioning. Recently installed Amarok, Audacity, Bleach Bit. Performed Computer Janitor. I'm not sure at which point web-cam stopped to function, but now it is not recognized any more by the system. Can't use it by Skype or Video Google. What is the procedure, application to scan the system for Hardware components? I've recently switched to Linux, and my experience is limited. Please help

If you install and run cheese, do you see yourself?

Can you also give the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a; lsusb

Using "Cheese" message "no device found" appears. Netbook is "MSI pr201". It seams that no drivers for webcam are present.

1. installed cheese:
1.1 Sometimes if started immediately displays: No device found
1.2 Sometimes it doesn't respond resulting in force closing

I'm not sure. will have to check. I'll post findings once i'll check on MSI site.

installed BIOS is v1.0N 07/11/2008, but MSI download page for my machine (MSI pr201) indicates BIOS v1.0X from 26/04/2010.
I'm I right assuming that the next step should be BIOS update?

Gents, I've installed new BIOS as per official MSI site instructions for my machine PR201-MSI1223. It went OK. Rebooted machine, no problem whatsoever. It remains the problem with the built-in CMOS Camera (2.0 Mega Pix). Manufacturer states that on for Windows it uses generic drivers. It is a new machine, came with FreeDOS above which I've installed Ubuntu 10.10. After first Ubuntu installation all HW was correctly recognized, Webcam two, I've used it with Skype and GoogleVideo, no problem. After several System updates and several SW installations, I've realized that the Webcam isn't recognized anymore. I'm not sure at which point it stopped to respond. Cheese doesn't recognize it either giving message "No device found". How can I load drivers again? Have drivers been corrupted or something? What can I do next? Please revert.

I've tried another external, USB webCam which worked out-of-the-box in Cheese, Skype and Googlevideo without problem. Afterwards tried again the built-in web-cam, which surprisingly worked well. Tagging "problem solved". Thanks for the support.
