Failed to send command to "Default" (localhost:6,600) - no connected

I am trying to run Cantata under Mint 17.1. Downloaded mpd and cantata and installed - seems OK
Edited /etc/mpd.conf to use pulseaudio as output. Fired up cantata only to get this mevessage:
Failed to send command to "Default" (localhost:6,600) - not connected.

Thanks for any pointers to what I have failed to do.

Mint isn't supported here. Mint has its own forums and community which is completely separate from Ubuntu.
