calibre 5.0.1 Won't Install

Asked by David Govaker

I'm trying to install calibre 5.0.1 on my up-to-date Win10 system and I get a "calibre 64bit Setup Wizard ended prematurely" message, saying that it happened "because of an error" with no other info.
I have version 4.23 64bit edition currently installed.

Any tips on what I can do to get v. 5.0.1 installed?

Thanks! -- David

This is Ubuntu support only. I suggest you post on a Windows forum.

This is where the calibre program and website directed me. Seemed odd to me, too.
If anyone has a clue that might help, please post.

@actionparsnip:
https://answers.launchpad.net/calibre
tells "calibre questions are tracked in: calibre in Ubuntu."

@David Govaker:
What exactly happens when you try installing?
Do you see the screen to confirm the license agreement?
Do you get the confirmation screen to do an admin change to the system?
What is the last message above the green progress indicator before the scrash?

Can you help with this problem?
