How to run a "hello world" program on Ubuntu.

Asked by Andrew

On windows, you can use a Compiler to run a "Hello World" program via Command Prompt.
How do you do something like this on Ubuntu? If it can be done.

Sure, if you install

build-essential

You can compile at command line without issue.

Please read this : http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-install-c-and-c-compilers-in-ubuntu-and-testing-your-first-c-and-c-program.html

You have many options when it comes to 'C' compilers but if I were you I would explore, Geany. Anjuta, Eclipse.

You should also explore "Quickly" and "Glade" - Rapid application Development at it's best but uses python ( no reason why YOU can't write a template for 'C' though.. :-)
