Bluetooth issue with 9.10

Asked by gdesilva

I have a Dell bluetooth keyboard and a mouse which work fine under 9.04 as well as 9.10. However, after the upgrade to 9.10 the system claims that there is no bluetooth device installed. The bluetooth process is running according to the output from ps -ef. However, when I do /etc/init.d/bluetooth status, I get the message that bluetooth is not running.

While I have no problems using the bluetooth keyboard and the mouse, the problem is I cannot configure any other device.

I also reinstalled the bluez without success.

Would appreciate if anyone can provide any pointers.

Many thanks

Powered off both the bluetooth keyboard and the mouse and tried rebooting with usb keyboard and a mouse. Still the USB bluetooth device is not detected by the system.

This problem has not gone away....my system still claims that there are
no hci devices although the bluetooth keyboard and mouse do work. This
means I cannot add any other bluetooth device.

For the benefit of those who are experiencing the same problem, the solution is outlined in the following post by niteshifter @

http://ubuntu-ky.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8298037

Essentially, what needs to be done is to switch from HID Proxy mode to HCI by following the steps outlined in the above post.
