A question for the setup of the DNS

No you do not need to have a registered domain to setup Bind.

Even more - prior to registering a new domain, you need to setup a couple DNS-servers yourself and list the domain on them. Each DNS-server should be in a distinct Autonomous System (AS). Or you can get such a service from a third-party.

Thank you, by the way , to do the installation and the configuration of the DNS(Bind) in my laptop, is it necessary to create a domain by myself? Because the creation of the domain has a lot of things to be done like setup of the domain controller.

I think that you are mixing up two different things:
1) Internet domain name - a name of a host in Internet, i.e. www.launchpad.net (a human readable and understandable substitute for an IP-address)
2) Windows Server domain (or Linux :) ) - a logical group of computers

DNS (Domain Name Service) and BIND is about the first one - to provide human readable and understandable names for computers in the Internet.

Where as Domain Controller, Active Directory, LDAP is about the second one - to provide centralized ways to administer corporate computer stuff including every single PC and server.

So you don't need any Windows domain to set up a DNS-server.

So to test whether the dns server is correctly installed and configured,is it necessary to use another computer which has joined a domain?If this computer is not in the domain, is it available to test it?Thanks

Please tell why you want set a domain (i think you might be refer to a Windows domain)...?

I'm quite confused please tell: do you want to have a configured DNS to resolve you internal lan pc name... or you want simply configure your DNS to surf the net...?
