banshee package

banshee does not recognise ipod

i first used banshee when running jaunty and it recognised and syncd my ipod nano perfectly.on upgrade to karmic it ceased to recognise any usb mounted mp3 player.after upgrade to lucid and installing the latest banshee it still does not recognise an ipod even though the ipod mounts to the desktop and in rythmbox. is there any known fix?

i have selected all the mp3 devices in preferences.this makes no difference. rythmbox shows it mounted at /media/ipod
