[meta] how to handle 5 duplicate questions about STA 802-11 wireless

The user glenn caughill has posted 5 separate questions (so far) about what appears to be the same issue. It seems unlikely that, with the confusion arising from this, his problem will ever actually be solved. Would it be possible for someone (marcobra?) to figure out what question is likely to be the most productive place for work to be done on the problem, mark the others Invalid as duplicates, and inform the user of our policy of avoiding asking the same question more than once?

There's no need to apologize; it is expected that new users may not always post in the most ideal manner. I'm not posting this question to complain--I'm posting it to ask for advice in how to best consolidate your questions so that a solution to your problem can be arrived at in a reasonable amount of time.

marcobra has marked all Invalid except https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/b43-fwcutter/+question/165040; all discussion of this issue can continue there (which is much better than having is spread across multiple questions--it should be easier now to arrive at an ultimate solution to the problem).
