wireless setup does not detect the firmware for Broadcom corporation BCM4318 (airforce one 54g)802.11g wireless LAN controler. it detect the driver but not the firmware

Installing package b43-fwcutter the first time, done with a wired connection, will ask you if you want to download the Broadcom (firmware) files, say Yes. You should then have the firmware in directory /lib/firmware/b43. If you have already installed the b43-cutter package without accepting the download offer, purge it (sudo apt-get purge b43-fwcutter) and install again.
sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter

I am also unable to set up wireless connectivity using the exact same broadcom adapter. I tried uninstalling the b43-cutter package and reinstalling it as above but still no luck. Despite repeated attempts, the additional drivers programme does not show anything, just the message: 'No proprietary drivers are in use on this system'.

Can you help with this problem?
