unable to update vuze 3.1.1.0 in Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty)

Asked by GODSMACK

Unable to install core azureus version 4.2.0.2 -- keep getting prompted to install this update.

I have Vuze 3.1.1.0 currently installed. I keep getting prompted to install Core Azureus Version 4.2.0.2. After clicking the Update button and after downloading and installing vuze ask for restart but after restart I get prompted again to install Core Azureus Version 4.2.0.2 - and of course Vuze 3.1.1.0 is still there.

what i should do to make vuze update?

Hi,

Please try this procedure:

http://blink4blog.blogspot.com/2009/04/januty-guide-to-setup-vuze-4.html

I think the key part is to first totally uninstall vuze 3.1.1.0 before installing vuze 4.

Regards,

Mark

Hi
I have followed your link but their are a problem in the 3'rd steps:
(( go into the directory, edit the azereus file and uncomment and edit the line into:

PROGRAM_DIR=”/usr/share/vuze”))

What is the directory ? I'm new in Linux.

Hi,

Here are more detailed instructions:

http://www.ubuntugeek.com/howto-install-vuzeazureus-4004-in-810.html

So you need to go into the directory where you extracted the contents of the file Vuze_4.0.0.4_linux.tar.bz2 and then edit the file azureus

Mark

Hi,

Here is another procedure that explains how to download and install vuze, including what to do with the .tar.bz2 file:

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/azureus/+question/64196

See the last procedure in that URL, written by marcobra.

Hi,

First use the cd command to navigate to the directory where you downloaded the file http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/azureus/Vuze_4.1.0.4_linux.tar.bz2

I think you need to create the directory /usr/share/vuze, because it probably does not exist yet.

So enter the following command first to create the directory /usr/share/vuze:

sudo mkdir /usr/share/vuze

Then enter the following command in the directory containing the file http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/azureus/Vuze_4.1.0.4_linux.tar.bz2 :

sudo mv vuze /usr/share/vuze/.

Mark

Hi Godsmack,

I saw in

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/71618

that my first link above

http://blink4blog.blogspot.com/2009/04/januty-guide-to-setup-vuze-4.html

solves your issue.

Can you set this thread status to "solved" ?

Thanks,

Mark

To get an Azureus installation directly without any deb... and to get a self upgradable Azureus

http://forlong.blogage.de/en/entries/2008/12/2/How-to-install-and-update-Vuze-formerly-Azureus-4-on-Ubuntu

It works fine...

Hope this helps
