I'am a new in Linux ubuntu 8.10
When a try to update a system, I receive this error E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. E: _cache->open() failed, please report...But when I run in Terminal sudo dpkg --configure -a , and I set password I got a new problem dpkg: parse error, in file `/var/lib/dpkg/updates/0022' near line 1:
 newline in field name `padding... Is there a solution for this ??? Please

Try this

dpkg --clear-avail & make apt-get update,

Nice, thanks for help, I have a lot of errors but a moved a full Updates folder to Desktop, and now the Update Manager is work good again...
