How to submit a bug without knowing the package

Asked by Fabien H. Dumay

I am trying out the Ubuntu 12.04 in Final Beta. I am running into a spurious/intermittent bug that i would like to report. Using ubuntu-bug is nagging me about a package, but i haven't got a clue which package it might be. How should i file this bug report and help improve Ubuntu

As stated - i sometimes expierence unexpected logout from 12.04, 64 bit version. I am 99.9% sure that it is the new installation, because i didn't have this problem with 11.04.

I have performed a clean install of ubunttu, and then loaded all required software updates, so my system should be considered up-to-date.

This problem is more annoying then harmful, since i may lose some work, but that is not a bug issue. I know this version is not production-proof (being in beta and all), but maybe some attention is required to resolve this, as other users migth experience the same problem.

Use the Launchpad bug reported and state that you don't know the package.(When it asks for the package, there is an I Don't know option) Somebody will set the correct package for you.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+filebug/?no-redirect

Or, use this guide:

Or, if you can give me more info about the symptoms, I can file it for you.

Can you help with this problem?
