Hi! I recently changed from Windows to Linux/Ubuntu 8.4. So my question is am I able to Instant Message, Voice Chat, use my web camera, in Gmail with my yahoo friends? Or is there any messengers that support yahoo messenger for Linux? Besides Skype, Pidgin. Thanks!

go to applications->internet->pidgin

you can add all your yahoo, msn, google, aol, jabber accounts in one program! its brilliant! i'm not sure about the video chatting in pidgin though, thats scheduled for the next release in jaunty. you may be able to upgrade to the latest version yourself. i use aMSN to voice chat with my friends on the msn network.

Hi all...

I try to use pidgin and add my YM account.. for some reasons it's not working? is Linux Ubuntu compatible with YM? I don't wanna use amsn or anything... I just would like to use YM. please help guys?

lord_iko: pidgin usually works fine with Yahoo. If youære having trouble, consider testing empathy (which will replace pidgin in Ubuntu 9.10 onwards).

sudo aptitude install empathy
