i cant get the audio output through my altec lansing speakers of my laptop hp pavilion dv2000.But when i connect my headphones i am getting the audio output through them...

I had the same issue with my dv2000 as well but under feisty and gutsy (resolved under hardy).
It always helped to compile the newest versions of the alsa-libraries myself (you have to do this with every kernel update). I think there should be enough tutorials on how to do that...
