No sound in Dell Studio 1555 laptop in fedora 11

Asked by Abhishek

I have a Dell laptop studio 1555 and I am using Fedora 11. There is no sound coming either in speakers or in headphone.I searched for the problem on the net and the possible solution suggested was to add a line aftre the alsa-base file. I looked for alsa-base file in etc/modprobe.d/ but there is no such file in the folder. PLZ HELP........the output of alsa-info.sh is given here in this link:

From the output you sent, it seems that the upgrade of ALSA to version 1.0.20 failed:

!!ALSA Version
!!------------

Driver version: 1.0.18a -> not correct
Library version: 1.0.20
Utilities version: 1.0.20

The driver version is still on 1.0.18a instead of 1.0.20. So ALSA cannot work when there is this difference between the driver and library version.

We only give support for Ubuntu here, but I can give you the ALSA upgrade procedure that works for Ubuntu 9.04:
