What is it you are actually trying to do?
Seems like you want to install winXP software.

The drivers for your sound card are built into Ubuntu, you don't need to download anything from Creative's website or from the driver CD that came with your card.

My problem still exists.
Here is what I wish to do;
I have my other partition (ms xp pro) with the Creative software installed which gives me a drop down box on my desktop called "media source go". This is very good tool for me to use.
My question is; will I have to sacrifice that for Amarok?

You cannot use WinXP software on a Linux OS, unless you use additional software tools. You can try installing wine (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wine) and see if that will make Media Source Go run on your machine.

@ dayal

Please don't append a new question on a already answered or marked as solved question.
Please make new question from here: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+addquestion
you will get better chance to get right answer on a fresh tagged "open" question.
Solved or answered questions are usually not read from answering people.
