audio playback problems with audacity

Audio playback works fine with Youtube. I can play videos that come through my speakers. When I run Audacity, I can see it recording sounds and playback through the graphics monitors. But, I cannot hear sound recorded.

File -> Preferences
Playback on the left panel. Choose the correct output device.

Just googled... It's a good first punt
