sound very quiet (ok with headphoes though) - Ubuntu 14.04

Hi there
Working through the troubleshooting guide and at step 3
I have an acer aspire e1-522 and Ubuntu 14.04
Sound fine through headphones but very poor without them (low volume and tinny)

ok problem solved
When using alsamixer and pressing F6, I had to search through all the Sound Card Options until I found the one with all the magic controls.
I turned them all up to 100 and it is now loud enough!
