Hello.

First, I saw that you have Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS , but you are booting from 3.2 kernel. Why ?
Ubuntu 12.04.3 has Raring's kernel which version is 3.8 (much newer and newer alsa (sound) drivers) .

The I saw lot of muted channels. (mute=1) . Please open a terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) and write the following command

    alsamixer

there check if something is muted. Muted channel indicated by an [MM] sign at the bottom. If you see this sign, go there (navigate with arrow keys left - right) and hit the 'M' key on your keyboard. The [MM] sign should disappear. Press 'Enter' to exit.

Hello, NikTH.

Thank you for your answer! I didn't guess that sound was muted while volume is set to max everywhere. "MM" didn't have obvious meaning for me. :-)

The system, by the way, says it's up-to-date. Well, nevertheless, now sound works. Thank you very much again. :-)

Best regards,
Maria.
