Creative stuff can be hard to get working in Linux and isn't worth the hassle. Can you give the output of:

wget -O alsa-info.sh http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh && chmod +x ./alsa-info.sh && ./alsa-info.sh

Thanks

Hi,

The output is

http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=081c1f282ad69c8a7dfc892e626cc27a810c4db9

As you can see I have two pcie card, one for a video card which i use to connect the monitor (it has a hdmi out, but i am unsure if the hdmi has audio as my monitor has only video).

The issue is with the sound card Creative Recon3d Recon 3D. The Ubuntu 12.04 has no sound. Please help.

If you run:

alsamixer

are all the levels cranked and unmuted? You can use M to un/mute, cursors to select and change levels and ESC to exit

The alsamixer shows only one card which is the video card with HDMI (my monitor has only video no sound). HD-Audio Generic or by alsamixer --card=0 (1 to 9 does not work)

This is also shown in the output above under the heading "Soundcards recognised by ALSA".

The system tools - system setting - sound also shows only one option in choose a device for sound output
- Cedar HDMI Audio Radeon HD 5400 / 6300 Digital Stereo (HDMI)

It somehow does not recognise my sound card - Creative Recon3d Recon 3d ? However, your output above seems to know there is another card (under heading PCI Soundcards installed in the system). Please help.
