Resolution 1280x800, permission problems.

I've just started using Ubuntu this week so bare with me. I have the same problem as this https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/4465

When I type in the terminal: 915resolution -l
the following error occurs:

Intel 800/900 Series VBIOS Hack : version 0.5.2

Unable to obtain the proper IO permissions: Operation not permitted

Any help?

you need to add sudo to it (permissions)

using sudo apt-get install 915resolution

should automatically patch it

try using logging out and back in again.
