Since this is Linux, you will not be able to run MS Office, or any other Windows program in Linux directly. The only method available is to use various applications like Codeweavers, WINE, or Cedega for games. Personally, though I would suggest that you use either OpenOffice, The Gnome Office suite, the KDE Office suite, or my personal favorite LaTeX. I should tell you though that generally OpenOffice is in my opinion the best at reading MS Office files. Although, I've been using LaTeX for a while, so I've lost touch with those applications somewhat.
Good Luck!

OpenOffice.org is installed by default on Ubuntu desktops. It is available in the menu Applications>Office>OO.o Word Processor.

OpenOffice.org is able to read and write MSword documents. What other programs where you referring to?
