wireless driver

Asked by nuttybacon

hi,

opening statement - Im new to this and new to linux. I have been a windows user for many years (please dont hate me) anyway, ubantu was recommended to me by a friend and i was VERY impressed.

I want to use it and learn the 'linux way' however i cannot get wireless to work. i have tried a netgear wg111 usb dongle and a cable and wireless pcmcia card to no avail. ubantu detects the devices however i cannot connect to my wireless network. i have done a google search and there are various frigs ets however not being an linux geru im not even going to attmpt to go down that route

my question is what PCMCIA and or USB wireless dongles are supported by ubantu and come with known working linux drivers. i.e linksys, belkin etc with model number

thanks in advance.
