ubuntu 7.04 download

I downloaded Ubuntu 7.04 and have some issues of concern. One is do I need to burn the program to a CD with an ISO burn program? If so, which ISO program do I need? Is the download only a bootable disk?
If possible, I want to install Ubuntu 7.04 on Microsoft Virtual PC so I can have both operating systems on my machine at the same time and learn Ubuntu while still using Windows. Can I do this or is it not recommended? Can I easily undo the installation on the Virtual PC and restore my system to the pre Ubuntu state?
I am running Toshiba Sat 45, Intel Pentium M 1.6 GHz, 1016 MB RAM, 80 GB hard drive 74 GB free, and Win XP. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can burn it to a CD and then install from the CD using a program such as http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/

You can run it in a virtual machine, although I'm not sure if MS Virtual PC supports Linux operating systems. If not, check out www.vmware.com - you can actually download an Ubuntu Linux applicance there (a pre-installed VMWare image of ubuntu to play around with - http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliances/directory/844).

The latest Microsoft Virtual PC does indeed support Linux.

You can get vmware server for free at http://www.vmware.com/download/server/ You can use the ubuntu ISO image as a "virtual drive", and install ubuntu on a virtual machine there. If you have any problems with this, you can ask me, because i have this exact setup on my machine.

A easier way to do it is downloading vmware player (http://www.vmware.com/download/player/) for free, and use the ubuntu virtual appliance, from the link mentioned above.
