Have a look in your bios to see what it will boot from and pander to that, some old systems need a special boot floppy to then kick off the installer on the optical disk.

Is the drive a DVD drive?

Check BIOS settings and set the only boot option to the DVD drive. This will force the system to boot the disk. Did you MD5 test the ISO you burned before burning it? The image you used to burn the CD may have been corrupted whilst you downloaded it so MD5 can let you know the data is good
