Problemas con sonido en ubuntu 9.10

Hace unos días que actualice mi portatil Dell XPS 1330 de ubuntu 9.04 a 9.10. Hasta entonces el sonido funcionaba perfectamente, sin embargo desde que hice la actualización ha dejado de funcionar el sonido en mi portátil. He probado distintas opciones que he localizado en Internet pero no me ha sido posible recuperarlo. Gracias por la ayuda.
