Question #89705 “want higher resolution than 1360x768 ” : Questions : Ubuntu

want higher resolution than 1360x768

Asked by Scruphy

I have nvidia video card and linux driver. Monitor and card both support higher resolutions but 1360x768 is the highest I am offered. The graphic in the nvidia setting window suggests it knows higher resolution is possible but doesn't offer it. Whenever I try to edit anything I end up with way lower resolution and a mess to fix. What else can I try?

have you tried editing it by typing sudo nvidia-settings at terminal. This is found in Aplications > Accessories > Terminal . Also please could you post your Xorg.conf run at the terminal gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and then copy and paste the contents

Is your display device a TV? If so, you might want to look here. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1045106 Many TVs do not correctly return the resolutions they support.

Can you help with this problem?
