no tengo conexion
Hola todos:
Tengo un problema de conexion. El dia que termino de hacer la actualizacion de la version 9.08 a la 9.10, me dejo de funcionar la conexion a internet. ya probe todo, se que no es problema del router por que probe el router en otra computadora y anda. simplemente dejo de andar luego de las actualizacones... no se me asigna una IP. tal vez tenga un problema con los drivers de la tarjeta de red???? Agradeceria cualquer ayuda!!!

Se necesita más información para poder ayudarte:
- ¿Qué modelo de ordenador tienes? ¿Qué tarjeta de red?
- Pega la salida del comando 'dmesg'
- Copia y pega la salida del comando 'sudo lspci' ejecutado en la terminal (Aplicaciones -> Accesorios -> Terminal).
- Prueba a ejecutar 'sudo dhclient' y péganos la salida.

Vete a sistema » administración » comprobación del sistema. Selecciona las pruebas de red. Omite la primera prueba, que es de módem. En la siguiente te pondrá los nombres de las tarjetas de red y wifi detectadas. Copia y pega aquí esas líneas.

Mucahs gracias por la rapida respuesta. Tengo un procesador Intel Celeron 1.70 GHz con 512MB de RAM y 20 GB de espacio en disco. mi tarjeta de red es una realtek semiconductor co. RTL 8139/8139C/8139C+.
te adjunto un archivo con todas las pruebas hechas.

Puede que esté yo mal, pero no veo el archivo adjunto jejeje
¿Puedes volver a subirlo? Usa Launchpad en vez de adjuntar el archivo en un correo, o pega el contenido en http://
Encima tu tarjeta de red es de las mejores que son soportadas en el kernel, la realtek 8139 la tienen muchos ordenadores :-) Así que tu problema no debería ser algo más complejo que un problema de configuración :-D

Me extraña un poco este mensaje. ¿El cable de red está conectado? Si es así, ¿se enciende la luz que detecta la conexión? (debería ser un pilotito naranja o amarillo fijo, tiene que venir en el manual).
Dinos la salida de este comando (cópialo y pégalo tal cual en una terminal, date cuenta que es una sola línea aunque se pueda partir por el formateo que le dé launchpad):

Mira lo que te dice Jorge, si la tarjeta de red enciende un led indicando la conexión (o mira si en Windows puedes conectarte a través de ella), ya que puede ser que simplemente el cable de red esté "tocado".

Leo en la descripción de este bug que está relacionado con el bug enlazado por Jorge, ¿tienes Windows XP instalado en la máquina? Si es así prueba a cambiar la configuración del driver de red en Windows XP, en Administrador de Dispositivos, habilitando la opción "Wake-on-lan after shutdown".

El link de la lan con el modem adsl esta up asi que problemas con el cable no creo que alla. Tampoco tengo windows instalado asique, solo tengo ubuntu... ¿les parece que pruebe con otra tarjeta de red a ver si ese es el problema?

Parece que la conexión la detecta, si no voy errado (carrier=1) y el resto de valores, hasta donde alcanzo a comprender, parecen correctos.
Puede que sí, que haya un problema con el driver y tu modelo concreto de tarjeta de red que haga que no funcione bien el dhcp, aunque no he encontrado ningún bug al respecto... Desde luego, si puedes cambiar la tarjeta de red, adelante. Seguramente así se solucione.
Si tienes tiempo, estaría bien que creases un bug report con el tema.
Siento que no se me ocurra nada más...

Puedes hacerlo directamente con el applet de conexiones haciendo clic derecho » editar las conexiones, o por terminal con los siguientes comandos:
sudo ifconfig IP up
sudo route add default gw GATEWAY
echo nameserver 208.67.222.222 | sudo tee /etc/resolv.conf
Con el primer comando te pones la IP y la máscara de red (si es 255.255.255.0 no hace falta ponerla). Con el segundo pones la puerta de enlace. Con el tercero añades un DNS. Debes reemplazar las palabras en mayúsculas por los datos que sean. Normalmente te los proporciona el DHCP, pero al poner IP estática debes darlos tú manualmente. Por ejemplo:
sudo ifconfig 192.168.0.100 up
sudo route add default gw 192.168.0.1
echo nameserver 208.67.222.222 | sudo tee /etc/resolv.conf

Opte por formatear el disco e instralar ubuntu 8.10, y la conexion me funciona barbaro... no entiendo que habra ocurrido cuando actualice al 9.10. Bueno en todo caso estoy contento que tengo conexon nuevamente. ahora que dicen que haga: cuando me pida para hacer las actualizaciones que actualice a ubuntu 9.10 o sigo con la version 8.10???

Hombre, tienes dos opciones:
a) Quedarte con 8.10. Si algo funciona bien, ¿para qué cambiarlo? Tienes soporte para otro año más entero.
b) Actualizar (que no instalar) la 9.10. Luego en el grub, seleccionas el kernel de la 8.10 para que te vaya bien el driver de red. Incluso, puedes modificar /boot/grub/menu.lst para que sea ese kernel por defecto y no tengas que seleccionarlo siempre.
Eso como veas tú.

Edito, un año más de soporte no, pero sí 6 meses más, que son 18 meses de soporte en total, según tengo entendido.
