After upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10 start up takes 7 mins.

Did upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10 and start up time went to 7 mins. Thought upgrade may have been corrupt so deleted install and did a new install from a cd. Result exactly the same. Running in Windows as previously where start up was less than 2 mins.Any ideas?

If you run:

dmesg | less

You can read the system bootup log. Watch the numbers on the left as this is the time since the kernel came online. If there are any large gaps in time, this is where your issue lies.
