Firefox 3.5 crashes in Ubuntu 8.04 with presence of flash on some sites
My OS is Ubuntu 8.04
I am using firefox 3.5
when I run a website with certain flash content firefox just crashes
It used to do this with facebook a lot (it may have more to do with java) when I was trying to upload photos, I haven't uploaded anything in a while but it really wasn't a big deal because after a try or two everything would work fine.
Now my problem is (I know this is silly but it is the only recurring problem so it is the best way I can describe it) when I go to www.instyle.com and then click on the makeover tab, I sign in, but that is probably not necessary, then I upload a photo or use one that I have already saved. this is where the problem begins. I click on the photo I want to use, it loads and then sometimes within 2 seconds firefox crashes other times it hangs for a long period time and then crashes or just hangs until i get frustrated and restart my system.
I have googled it and looked it up in forums all over I have already tried reinstalling my flashplayer
Disabling my screensaver
disabling all my add ons
disabling plugins although not all of them.
my installed plugins are:
default plugin
Demo print plugin for unix/linux
DivX Web Player version 1.4.0.233
Helix DNa Plugin: RealPlayer G2 plug-in compatible (compatible; Totem)
iTunes Application Detector
Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_07-b06
QuickTime plug-in 7.2.0
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r22
VLC Multimedia Plugin (compatible Totem 2.22.1) I disabled this one
Windows Media Player Plug-in 10 (compatible;Totem) 2.22.1
I am not a computer genius and I really don't know much about Ubuntu, there are a few suggested solutions that I haven't been able to try because I don't know how to find the things they are talking about, even after googling it. Haha. But if anyone has any idea or could help me with the problem that would be great.
