an uninvited black bar at the rt.side of the desktop

i do not know how but some thin black bar has come on the rt. hand margin of my desktop. it takes that thin space. so how do i get rid of it.

  i have nvidia driver installed .

 i have jaunty and a gnome desktop.

  the bar was not there previously.

  kindly help.

   also my theme of desktop doesn't load at start up .interestingly when i click on the ' system >preferenced>sound ' the theme is loaded. this has been a prob since the very 1st day.

  if possible help with that also..

can you use imageshack or photobucket to provide a hot of the entire desktop to show what you mean

Could it be your monitor? Have you tried shifting the screen image to the right, or altering the resolution?

although the snap shot does not show the thin black bar at the rt. vertical
margin but it is there and i can see it

i tried shifting the image but the margin was coming on the left side so i
just left that option .the resolution is 1024 x 768
it was the same before also

it moves only up to a part not off the screen

Most monitors have an auto-adjust option. Try that. If it doesn't work, look for an option to stretch the screen before you move it. That will stop the bar from appearing on the left when you move the image right.
