How to remove ubuntu?

Asked by Samarth Kumar

I have accidently installed ubuntu 9.04 in C: drive in which i have windows OS loaded. Due to this the hard disk free space in my C: drive has been reduced to only 100mb. I have tried to find the system folders in the drive but i cannot find it (i tyried to find it tru my windows os). What should i do to tremove ubuntu without removing windows os. I want to install ubuntu in another drive.

Boot your dual boot pc by selecting Windows rewrite the mbr by entering in rescue mode from Windows.

Then booting your pc entirely from Ubuntu desktop live install cd, using gparted ( menu System → Administration → Partition Editor ) you can easily delete and then increase the size of the NTFS partition.

Hope this helps

Depends on whether you used "Wubi" to install ubuntu alongside your windows (Tom's link is a good resource) or whether you used the LiveCD to repartition your drive and install in the separate partition (then marcobra's suggestion would work).

One way to tell would be to go into your Windows Control Panel, Add/Remove Program (XP yes, Vista I'm not that sure) and see if Ubuntu is there. If so, you should be able to remove it from there and you're done. Otherwise it is more tricky and perhaps you need to try something like marcobra suggested...

Can you help with this problem?
