Why call it "down-", just call it "side-"grade... ;-)

Open Synaptic (System -> Sytem-Settings -> Synaptic-Packaging) and search for "ubuntu-netbook".
There you will find the packages (that are installing alle the dependencies) to get the system over to UNR.

Greetings

dude, i what I got is the IMG file of netbook remix. that means going to what you said would only take me more time in getting that instead of using the IMG. got any alternatives?

As midnightflash mentioned, all you need to do is install the "ubuntu-netbook" package. You can do it using the Terminal too, just type this and enter in your password when prompted:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-netbook

That's all!

@ Ceffy:
Please look for your tongue!

And then read my post and do what I say. That .IMG is the whole distribution. You don't need that one.

The way I described is to change a normal Desktop-Edition into a UNR... just as you asked... by installing just a package.

You should read this:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallingSoftware

And maybe again: Please look for your tongue!

let see. i was looking for what you said but i think i need to get updates first before i could get what your saying. i tried the quick search in synaptic but i cant find it there. anyway, i will take me a day or more again just to finish downloading my updates.

The "ubuntu-netbook-remix"-packages are only avail in the 9.04. Older versions (like 8.10) are not officially supported.

but i just upgraded to 9.04 like what you said. you know, using the alternate iso then mounting it.
9.04 as the small loading screen and has a nice login right? if yes, then thats what i am using. i dont know why i cant find unr in synaptic. recently, there was a message tell me that not eventing has been updated. and i have to connect to the web and download these updates. what do you think? can that be the problem?
