is it possible to upgrade from ubuntu 8.10 desktop to 9.04 netbook remix?

hi guys! im using my MSI Wind U100 with ubuntu 8.10 desktop. im planning to upgrade to 9.04 netbook remix. is it possible? if yes, how?

There's a lot of different ways you can do this. Midnight's answer looks like a good way of keeping not just your settings & data intact but also keeping any installed programs :)

Lol, thanks, i tend to be here a lot for a while and then vanish for a week or two and then reappear. I think there's a large area of overlap between your areas of expertise and my prefered areas. Actually there's 3 of us ;)

Great! Now you can do the following to get it to UNR:
Open Synaptic (System -> Sytem-Settings -> Synaptic-Packaging) and search for "ubuntu-netbook".
There you will find the packages (that will also install all the dependencies) to get the system over to UNR.
