no start up screen

i have ubuntu 9.04 running as the only operating system on my computer, it boots up just fine and i can use it but when it starts up its just a black screen for awile then it logs in and i want it to show it starting up like when you live boot off the cd. i have 6.04.1 on a different computer and that dhow it starting up.

please tell me if there is any way that it will show the start up screen or does-it just not there, oh im gonna be gone for friday saterday and sunday so dont expect an answer right away

You mean the usplash screen is missing, the one when the orange bar showing progress of booting ?

ok i ran

sudo apt-get --reinstall install usplash libusplash0 usplash-theme-ubuntu

in a termanal and it worked
