VNC (Remote Desktop) should allow remote connection to Logon Screen

Asked by launchpad99

In our company our windows desktop and servers use the ultravnc application. There is not a ultravnc
server version for linux.
Ubuntu uses "vino" asvnc server application.

A very very helpful thing of ultravnc server is that i can connect to this server and see the logon screen.
It's great for example when you are remotely controlling a PC, you must restart it, and you can connect
again because the vnc server allows you to see the logon screen, etc.

In ubuntu the vino remote desktop application does not allow me to do so.
I can only connect after the user insert user/password and log on.

I know X11VNC can manage this (although not in a very good way) but obviously it is needed to
edit system files etc. For a better user experience, just would be great a checkbox in the "remote desktop" settings
"allow user to control also the logon screen".

It is too hard to develop it ??

Ok, you can try to install in Ubuntu the VNC package, and then try to connect to your Windows Server with the "Terminal Server Client" selecting the VNC Protocol., and configure your server for logon.

I Suggest you try with Ubuntu Servers! ;)

Can you help with this problem?
