Download of jaunty jackalope failed during installation

Asked by jerryhoward

Downloaded all files as per check mark in window. Went through installing packages. During clean up got a message stating Could not update, something about broken. Still can use Internet, Mail, Sun Office 3.0, gedit. Have not tried games yet. Noted that "Suspend" operation gives window that the computer cannot be suspended. Restart works as does Shut down. Any place I can find a message as to the problem?

There should be some log files in /var/log/dist-upgrade, which hopefully will contain the message you are looking for.

Thank you for the quick reply. The following is a snippet from the main
log. These are the last lines in the log with my comments preceded by #.

#This is a snippet of the last lines in the main.log of
/var/log/dist-upgrade.

The CD could be downloaded/burned badly.
You could download another time the CD's iso, burn it again and try again to install.

Download and installation was from the Internet. Ran checks on various
programs and used some system tools. Everthing seems OK. Consider the
problem solved and Thank You for your patience.
