Hi,

To clarify myself a bit more: you will need to use wine to run the .exe (executable) file of the program that you want to install. You should not attempt to directly open an .exe file from the windows partition via wine, except if that .exe file is actually a Windows installer version that will allow wine to install the program into a subdirectory in your /home partition in Ubuntu.

^^ i think u mis-understood my question first, and then u replied for what i am asking.
Actually, i know how to use wine ......but i want that a program (exe file--already installed exe file) on non-linux partition, i.e. windows partition could be run through linux without installing it in my linux partition....!!!

Is this possible......?? Do linux architecture allows this...!!! ???

Hi,

You can try running Windows programs that are already installed on the windows partition via wine, but it probably won't work. Just try it and you will see. I have tried it as well - a long time ago - and it did not work for me either. No surprise there because wine was not designed that way.

The following quote

"Wine is not designed to interact with an existing Windows installation." comes directly from:

http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-497f1a295d53dd3444f211df2b13312c7767afa2

I rest my case.
