Blank screen on install

I'm attempting to install the desktop version of ubuntu version 7.04 on my Fujistu E series lifebook. It boots from the cd i've selected install but the screen goes blank apart from a flashing cursor and it's been like that for 20 minutes now. There is some activity on the CD rom but no indication of progress. I've checked the integrity of the download and the CD reports as o.k.

I think you should download and install from the Alternate CD then.
Personally, I would recommend Xubuntu, ubuntu might be too demanding for your system.

i suggest you to run the setup in safe vga mode, might your vga/agp adapter is not fully compatible.

Xubuntu is working well.
