gdbgui Code Step

Asked by Stephen

I have downloaded the gio command's source files, and I have gdbgui is stepping through them. Trouble is when it steps to a call I do not have source code for gdbgui starts stepping through assembly. The message: "Fetching assembly since file is missing" appears.

The need is to step over calls for which I do not have source code. I am not interested in downloading the entire Ubuntu source code. I also am not interested in stepping through the all the assembly code for which I do not have source code. Doing so is time consuming. The need is for gdbgui to just execute the call without stepping through the assembly (step over the call) if there is no source code for the call. Or, failing that, once the assembly code is entered, to command gdbgui to continue execution without stepping until the call returns to where it has source code to step through. Is there a gdbgui command to do either of these?

My OS is Ubuntu 22.04 jammy.

Yes, I had seen that webpage. The descriptions for the shortcuts are not clear, and so I had misunderstood its description of the n key shortcut. In the browser, when I saw the tip strips for the icons on the upper right I saw that n is the key I was looking for to step over a function.
