Pending update "firefox" snap

Asked by Rich.b

Ubuntu 20.04.04 LTS Architecture X64-64 Kernel 5.4.0-122-generic

In the calendar (at top of screen) these TWO notices have appeared.

Pending update of "firefox"snap Yesterday
Close the app to avoid disruption (13 days left)

Pending update of "libreoffice"snap 6days ago
Close the app to avoid disruption (13 days left)

Please could you explain what if anything I should do?

Thank you for any help

Apparently new versions of firefox and libreoffice have been published in the snapcraft store. The system wants to install the updates, but cannot do so, because you currently have both firefox and a libreoffice application open.

If you don't act, the system will check periodically whether firefox and libreoffice are closed and re-try the update. In a fortnight the update will be forced in any case, and this may cause a crash in the running firefox and libreoffice sessions.

I suggest that - whenever you have time to do so - close firefox and all libreoffice programs and execute the command "sudo snap refresh". This will take a few minutes to install the update and you can continue working with the new version immediately afterwards.

Thanks Manfred for your reply:

I run this in terminal

richard@charged-particle:~$ sudo snap refresh
[sudo] password for richard:
All snaps up to date.
richard@charged-particle:~$

Nothing seems to have happen, Two items in calendar are still there.

I did close firefox and libraoffice first and also rebooted PC as well

What to do now?

It seems that the updates have already happened, but the calendar entries have not been automatically removed.
I think that you can delete them without any adverse consequence.

Delete entries, rebooted, entries all gone.

Thanks Manfred.

Is there any way to turn off this notification. The Firefox snap is updated way to often, doing the snap refresh only helps for a day or tow sometimes less.
