Hi Lori,
Since I upgraded to 9.04 when I boot up I have had no sound.
What I have to do is click on the speaker icon on the desktop, then click on the volume control button.
You will see the Playback Master is muted. Click on the speaker icon button below it to unmute it and then slide the slider up to the desired volume.
When I did that the first time it did not work as I did not have the speakers on :-)
Hope this helps if you have not tried it.

This does not work. I've played with all the volu,me slids. Could it be a setting in the player that I use?

Lori
I am changing computers and in order to listen to CBC's live stream
which is in Windows Media Player format I needed to download some
plugins.
Go to Applications>Add/Remove programmes
In the search window type in MMS
and then select GStreamer plugins for mms, wavpack, quicktime, musepack.
After installing that I can listen to CBC (I am in Canada) online.
Hope this helps.
