Details, please!
Which Ubuntu release are you running, how did you upgrade HPLIP (without S, at least I assume that this is what you are talking about), which printer make and model, which command did you try, etc.

Thank you so much for your reply.
I have used your questions to answer*Which Ubuntu release are you running, *
Linux Mint
*how did you upgrade HPLIP* (withoutS, at least I assume that this is what you are talking about),
I am so sorry, I have no clue what you are asking. I googled HP drivers for Linux and was directed to HPLIP
*which printer make and model*,
HP Officejet 4500
which command did you try, etc.
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install hplip; lsmod | grep usb ; lsusb ; ls -l /dev/usb/lp* /dev/bus/usb/*/* ; hp-info -i; lpinfo -v; sudo usb_printerid /dev/usb/lp0; hp-doctor

I have a HP Laserjet 1000 printer and Ubuntu 13.10. Yesterday I upgraded
HPLIPS to version 3.13.11. Printer has now stopped working and I have
message "Stopped - File /usr/lib/
such file or directory."

Xenial is no longer supported by anyone and Mint is not supported by the Ubuntu community or Canonical in any way. I suggest you post on the Mint forum here
https:/
None of the "Ubuntu based" distributions are supported here

Thank you for all the suggestions.
Out of nowhere, I managed top print. But after turning the machine off, on restart it printed to the corner again.
I turned off and waited the 15 seconds and all came right, except for the scanning.
I cannot scan at all not through the machine nor simple scan. Simple scan does not detect the printer.
Any further suggestions??

"Any further suggestions??"
If you are running Linux Mint, then ask at the Linux Mint support pages.
Can you help with this problem?
Provide an answer of your own, or ask Charlene for more information if necessary.
