EEEPC 701, 9.04 Netbook, mic and camera not recognised.

Asked by ChrisJ

Install of unr 9.04 went well, everything working except camera and mic as far as I can see. I have a standard eeepc 701, its not listed as 701 SD, didn't know there was an SD model so took the risk to install. All updates have been applied. Camera and mic don't show up in select lists. Audio out works in system tests.

Any body got any suggestions?

I believe the mic is listed as a bug ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/354705 )
with the UNR folks (have a look at the wiki - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport/Machines/Netbooks)

The cam will work - I also have a 701 and can confirm it works. It might be worth checking that it isn't accidentally disabled in the BIOS settings (press F2 when the machine first starts to boot )
The UNR uses Cheese as the webcam app (not one of my personal favourites, but it works sufficiently to show the cam is operating)

I am also using the EeePC 4G with Jaunty Netbook Remix.

Camera WORKS. Only microphone is still unuseable.

Can you help with this problem?
