Icoming connections when ufw is disabled?

I opened a port for uTorrent server in the past. Later I decided to disable ufw.

moshe@moshe:~$ sudo ufw status verbose
[sudo] password for moshe:
Status: inactive

How come I am getting incoming connections on uTorrent? Can't post an image here but I get them.

If ufw is inactive then it will allow all connections. It's like having no firewall running. If you have ufw set to default allow then it will just allow all traffic. If you run:

sudo ufw default deny

Then all traffic will be blocked when the firewall is inactive

Personally I prefer to use iptables as it is on all Ubuntu systems and ufw may not be installed
